A brand new year is here with us, let me take two minutes to catch you up and pass along a few tips to help you continue to ACE it.
Ace it Tip #1: You are always smarter than the problem.
My brother passed along this bit of wisdom to me recently. It hit me so I’m keeping it in front of me to remind me that regardless of the challenge, I can figure it out.
So where have I been?
First, let’s talk about Black in Business: One Million Black Women. After 10 weeks the program is coming to an end and the ladies will be heading to New York next week for graduation. As a business advisor, the common themes were the same: Clarity, Commitment, and Confidence are essential and critical in all areas of business and life.
Ace It Tip #2: Get super clear on “the who, what and how”, make a commitment, and have the confidence to carry it out. Period.
Then there was my trip to Mexico last month. I spent a week in Playa del Carmen at my mastermind business conference. I had no idea I was on the program as a panelist and while there I ended up sick, geez. I’m cold natured and I wanted some heat in my room, but there was no heat — imagine that —in Mexico, lol. So I got a little creative. I used the hair dryer to warm the room. It worked!
Ace It Tip #3: Be resourceful, look beyond what you see and get a little creative.
Then there was the flooding incident… You know what? Let me start from the beginning: After an extended weekend of tailgating and celebrating at the NCCU homecoming this month, I came home to find my downstairs flooded. It’s not something you want to happen while you’re away, but I was totally unbothered. Thankfully I’m getting everything sorted out without too much damage done. My dad told me a long time ago, “A house will be a house” and I’ve never forgotten that. In other words, things happen.
Ace it Tip # 4 Don’t panic. There will be obstacles and mishaps along your journey but you don’t have to let them completely side track you.
Now that things have settled down, I’m taking some much needed “me time”. That means binging, “The Crown”, watching movies (I just saw “A Woman King”) and pretty much anything else I feel like doing, ha.
I’m super excited to reconnect with you and can’t wait to hear what you have going on.
What mishaps have come your way? Are you taking any “me time” this week as you celebrate Thanksgiving?
